Choosing a sober living home

Questions worth asking on the phone before you visit: How often do you drug test? What's the curfew? Are meetings required, and which ones? What happens on a relapse — is there a second chance? Is there a house manager on site? What's the deposit and is any of it refundable? Can I see the actual room I'd be in?

If you use medication-assisted treatment, ask directly whether the house accepts it. Some homes say yes to naltrexone but not methadone; make sure their policy covers your medication.
